Hello, my name is Mari West.  I am a third year college student here at Kish.  After 30 years of being out of high school I decided to return here at Kish to pursue a dream of mine. I have wonderful support from my teachers, family and friends which I have been blessed by. This has truly been the best time in my life and have enjoyed all my classes..I would like to get my Bachelor's in English.  In my spare time, I love to be outside gardening, have a passion for photography, writing poems, traveling, and doing crafts.  Writing for the Kaleidoscope is a challenge but I love it!

Those who smoke have designated areas around campus where they can have their cigarettes.  Despite those areas, students are standing closer to the doors and smoking in areas outside.  There is no consideration for those of us who do not smoke.  After all, who wants to walk by someone smoking and have to be subjected to it?  As a non-smoker, cigarette smoke affects and subjects others to what is called “secondary smoke.”  The statistics are alarming as lung cancer is the number one cause of death, NOT heart attacks, strokes and other such illnesses.

With Kish’s Campus Expansion Project and the enlargement of the parking lot, the reactions heard throughout the halls are those of complaining because students can’t find a closer spot or are still walking too far to end the building.  What about the students that don’t have the luxury of parking closer that have a temporary injury such as a broken ankle, leg or arm, a back problem or someone who just had surgery?  These students have to
