I really wanted to join the Kaleidoscope as soon as I knew what it was. I’ve always loved to write and sports were never really my forte, so this is what I spent my time doing instead. I'm all about reading, the spring season, 80s movies, the Beatles, riding my bike and being outside. Writing is definitely something I want involved in my future career.

The Internet was created, Dolly the sheep was cloned, the Berlin Wall came down, and there was the innovative hair and fashion disaster within popular culture during the decades of the’ 80s and ‘90s. But what’s more important is recognizing the commitment and talents of our own Mr. Bill McKinley, who for the last 22 years has worked at Kishwaukee College and devoted his time to its students and staff with his efforts, especially where the Horticulture Department is concerned.

Love is merely a madness, William Shakespeare declared, and this same madness is the sole cause for countless lyrics having been written and sung about it by musical artists throughout the ages. Below are a mix of both old school and contemporary love songs that deserve a listen especially on the 14th day of February.

What is now known as Black History Month originally was founded as Negro History Week in the year 1926 by the Father of Black History, Carter G. Woodson. What was behind this designated week was meant to increase mindfulness and teach Americans about African American lifestyles and cultures that differed from their own, because history books almost entirely ignored the African American population within their own country.

As the new year makes its rounds, one thing that never fails to follow the festivities are the people who claim they are going to make major changes in their lives, whether it be hitting the gym, putting a stop to smoking, or to avoid the lyrics B.O.B’s 2010 hit “Airplanes” at all costs. But what happens when February rolls around, and these new ideals and improved ways of living screech to a halt?
