Students your finals are arriving soon and if you’re not ready yet here’s how you can get ready.

Tips for no stress finals:

Know when your final is, by now your teachers should know what day and what time all your finals will be.

Make sure you know what the test is over so you don’t study the wrong things or forget to study other areas. Like some classes have comprehensive finals and some only have a last test of the year for the last section of information you have covered.

“Are you ready yet?” I hear it all the time. “Are you ready yet? You have to go to school.” “Are you ready yet? We have to get to someplace.” “Are you ready yet? You need to figure out your life.”

Whoa, wait what?! Hold on. I don’t think I’m ready for that last one just yet.

There seems to be so much to do, and yet I’m not sure if I can do it. There’s plenty that I want to do, and I have plenty of plans to do these things, but can I even do it? Am I ready yet?

It’s been a long time since the Kishwaukee College’s dance team the Kougarettes have danced, but they are back now.

Just this semester, the team has reformed with a 10 girl team. They practice every Monday, Friday and Sunday in preparation for their performances. Some of the dancers admitted to the difficulty of the Sunday meetings, but have found that the University Plaza is a good alternative to the empty school.

The House Café, located at 263 E. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb, is a unique little place that many of us may not know about.

I’m sure many of us have passed by or even stopped in, but for those of you who don’t know much about this local venue, here’s what you need to know.

The House Café serves bistro-style food like sandwiches, wraps, their own pita pizzas and other items all for under $7. For beverages, they serve hot and cold drinks, like soda, tea and coffee and even beer and wine for the over 21 year old crowd.

With two to three times more sales happening at the new Kish Cafe will be hiring a new employee in the near future.  The new face is to help quicken the pace at the ever extending lines at the cashiers counter during the busier hours of the day.

One of the more popular items that students seem to purchase is the cheese fries, and also the sales of pre-made salads have gone up.

On Saturday October 1st NIU Horror Club is holding its second annual Dekalb Zombie Walk. Meghan Barnett & Tom Brown are the organizers and wish this year to be a big turnout. Encouragements on the Zombies of Dekalb Facebook page can attest to this and many others add their excitement to the page as well.

The walk will start as the Zombies gather at MLK Commons next to the NIU’s Holmes Student Center at 5:00 p.m., and around 5:30 p.m. they will disembark.

There a few simple rules to keep everyone safe as follows:

Next year Illinois lawmakers will be cutting state funding to all community colleges.  Usually the state pays for 33 percent of the cost and then tax payers make up the other 67 percent, but starting next year all of that will be cut from the state budget.

The PTK Banned Book Club meets every two months to discuss a book they have chosen to all read, and on March 30 they met to discuss American Psycho.

A small group of PTK members and a few non-PTK members showed up to the meeting in the B102 meeting room. The atmosphere was light and friendly despite the book they chose to discuss.

First off, I would like to admit I am probably addicted to the Internet. Secondly, my house is located somewhere between the Twilight Zone and the Stone Age. We have multiple objects from every era, along with having dial-up Internet. So when I heard last year, that Kishwaukee College had wireless high speed, I jumped for joy and brought my  “We only got you this for college” laptop, which I affectionately named Danny.
